May 25, 2005Mickey and Minnie would be disgracedMy sisters family saw a mouse this week, actually they probably saw two. They were mutant mice, too, with matching outfits. Of course they are down in Disneyland. Mickey and Minnie are out there with their good friends Daffy, Goofy and (and whoever else hangs out down there, sorry I'm a bit out of touch in that department). I, also, saw a mouse this week. Of course I was not thrilled to see it (although I didn't have to pay through the nose, either, so I guess it wasn't all bad. Nevertheless, my roomate and I set up the traps and are ready to catch the little f'ker. Planted some peanut butter on one trap, cheese on another and we were told salami is a good choice. If we add a ritz cracker and some jelly, it'll be a picnic.

May 22, 2005Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me...Cupid has been on strke, so I decided to take matters of the heart into my own hands. Heaps of people in the city are doing the online dating thing and I decided "what the hey, why not me?". You would think that a city of 8 million people would lend itself to constantly meeting like minded people, but I knew that wouldn't be the case. It will be good for the practice, anyway, because with the few souls I connected with, I couldn't remember how to date. Wish me luck!

May 16, 2005Can you Step to This?I took aerobics in college and it's hard to believe the classes were over five years ago. Actually, after my performance last night, I guess it's not so hard to believe. I got a one-week pass to my local gym and figured it was time to tone up. Not only is bathing-suit and tank-top season on it's way here but I figured it would be good for combatting stress and also help to improve my paltry lung capacity due to asthma. Granted, when I walked into the class and set up my step, just the step. I should have realized I was in for it when 80% of the class was setting their's up extra high. Ok, I'm talking about a single or double lift but it should have been a warning. Five minutes into the class came the dreaded "now that we're warmed up..." You mean that was a warm-up?? Some of it came back to me, but I seemed to constantly be facing the wrong way, or kicking the wrong leg. The most embarassing part though was when I nearly slipped right off the step (thanks to my precaution, it would have merely been a 2 inch fall but this body in motion would have taken down several other bodies as we were set up like a set of dominos). Ohh yeah and that happend twice. Trying to follow what other people were doing was a big mistake too. Some of these people were adding moves to make things harder. Can you believe it? I can't even go around the world right and they are adding hops and twirls! I should hand in the towel, but I've got no where to go but up so sign me up for the next class!

May 14, 2005Look Whos Not TalkingWith today's technology and New York City's population of over 8 million people, I should never have to worry about cell service here! Granted, I don't expect to use my cell phone on the subway and actually find that rather refreshing. Everyone on the subway is lost in their ipod's anyway. But... when I'm in my apartment or walking on the street, why is my call suddenly "lost"? If I had to bet, I would say that I have "lost" more calls here then when i lived in cow town USA. And work, don't even get me started, the service is even worse there. I'll be talking away and the person on the other line can't hear a thing so they hang up. Now I just don't answer the phone.
