August 31, 2004Tivo my life, I'll catch up laterWhen people ask me about the latest or greatest commercials, I simply respond "I have Tivo, I don't watch commercials". I was slow to fall in love with Tivo. Please, I don't need this thing taping programs for me. If I miss it, I miss it. So I started out small - a Sunday night movie and then a daytime program I was going to miss, but then my first season pass The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Now the possibilities are endless and I have a whole day's worth of television to catch up on. What a great invention, oh but it has its downfalls. Belive me! You see I now crave the Tivo machine in all my daily activities. In business meetings, can't I press the pause button, leave to take a nap then come back and have missed nothing? Of course, maybe the fast forward button would be more appropriate in the business situations. I went to the movies and reached for the invisible Tivo remote to skip back that few seconds (you users know what button that is, rewinds just enough but not too much). I was watching On the Waterfront and I missed what Marlon Brando said. To my dismay there was no remote and now I'll never know. beware, my friends, beware

August 09, 2004no loafing, bread-makingI'm not sure if I'm copping out, but I definately have myself convinced it is the best laid plan since I last had a good plan like this one. All this rejection from prospective employers was starting to get me down. Actually I wasn't even getting rejected, there was truely no response in either direction. Everyone has been telling me to be patient and I know that is what I would say to another able bodied soul searching for gainful work, but I just got sick of waiting. Anyway, my mastercard bill was shouting "stop loafing around!". Promoting high octane coffee just wasn't cutting the mustard. So, on a temporary basis I've returned to my old job. I found some old business cards so I can pretend to be official. Of course, they deleted my email from the system and someone else is using my phone extension. That just means when I hand out the card I can cross those things out and write whatever I want over them. Will that be suspicious?

August 03, 2004Somethings Fishy![]() I know I've been neglecting the blog and using the excuse that nothing happens. Should I write about my neverending search for a job when all I find is heartache (melodramatic, I know)? or moving back in with mom and dad (all the cool kids are doing it)? or the two awesome weddings I went to over the past month (maybe some stories are best left untold)? Well last week, I went fishing with Stephanie and I figure that is worth blabbing, uh I mean blogging, about. I impressed my childhood friend when I not only took the hooks out of the fish's mouth but cut off their heads in the cleaning process. Ten years ago that would have been as likely as winning the lottery. We split the proceeds and I pan fried a bunch up for the fam, which was a total hit. Omega 3 here we come!
