Peanut Butter Chocolate Heaven

pb_cups.jpg

Alright, those folks from Hershey's have done it again! I went to CVS today to pick up a birthday card for a friend and there lying on the counter was a limited offer White Chocolate Reeses Peanut Butter Cup! Whoa, peanut butter cups are like the best candy ever created! Of course I had to try it. I mean chocolate and peanut butter, does it get any better? Well, chocolate and bananas are pretty awesome and chocolate fondue...

Anyway, my favorite chocolate is definatly the milk variety but I don't discriminate: white, dark, orange....all good. I saw a dark chocolate one after I checked out. I imagine that one would be better in the white/dark race because white chocolate can be too sweet. I knew better than to buy them both though, because I have zero will power to resist yummy sweets. Then all four little cups would have been devoured in mere minutes. That would certainly result in rough tummy-ache.

How do you eat your Reeses?

Lag Lag

I know, I know, It has been awhile since I've written. I'm not dead, just got thrown full force back into east coast time and work and blah blah blah. I tried to go to bed on Monday when we got back at 11pm and didn't fall asleep till 2am. Needless to say I was not a happy camper a few short hours later when the alarm went off.

Laying in bed is a funny thing. Sometimes I make a deal with myself that if I don't fall asleep by such and such a time that I will get up and do something. Usually I either fall asleep or just refuse to look at the clock. Actually that's a good thing either way. Watching the minutes creep by is the worst. "11:45, Still not asleep" "1:17, Still not asleep"

I am bringing up my average fall asleep time (which I once proclaimed was 2 minutes).

I finally felt adjusted yesterday morning. Odd how when we went to California I just took a little 1 hour nap and was good to go, but coming back I was messed up for days. I think coming home (from either direction in time) is the most difficult since we are coming back to work. Ugh, why can't I be filthy rich?

You can't win if you don't play! And you can't give your money to the lotto devil either!

Sweaty Socks

When Kev and I took our wine class, the class would rate the wines. Our teacher's wife reported on one "It tastes like sweaty socks!"

Today we got to taste a bunch of wines. Luckily none of them tasted like sweaty socks (that doesn't bring up any good flavor aromas). We hit Napa and Sonoma and went to BV (Beaulieu Vineyards) first. Five tasters later - I was feelin it for sure. Time to eat!

After an amazing meal at the Culinary Institute, Grayrock Wine Spectator Restaurant we headed over to the Sterling Winery. They have a gondola, which brought us up to this beautiful castle-like winery where we had views of the valley.

To finish the day, we headed over to the Sonoma Cheese Factory. Free samples of cheese, um does it get any better? I don't think so!

Fun in the Sun

We arrived in San Diego yesterday after many hours of travel time. The weather here is great. It was a little hazy but very comfortable temps. Kev and I totally dig it here. The people are mellow, the beach is large and long and there is a lot of stuff going on. There are a bunch of neighborhoods that have their own style.

We checked out the zoo, today. Some of the animals are sad to look at because they sit with their back to the people. It makes you think they don't want to be on display. The apes were crazy, though, and stayed over by the plexiglass to chill. And of course we didn't miss the pandas! The zoo was awesome.

If you ever go to San Diego, definatly eat at Joe's Crab Shack in Pacific Beach. YUM!

Tommorow we are heading to the Sequoia National Forest and then to San Fran.

Reload Me

I am so tired! Kev, Allie and I went to see the pre-release of the Matrix: Reloaded last night. The movie was supposed to start at 10pm. Ok the previews were supposed to start at ten, um I mean the commercials. Due to technical difficulties they didn't start until 10:40! How crazy is that?

They replay the same pre-movie, pre-preview, pre-commercial loop over and over. I totally had that scrambler down ... "cool and refreshing". Why can't they make it a 10 minute loop?

The movie- I totally hope that coat Keanu wears comes out in the stores. I liked most of the fight scenes but there were some lovey dovey scenes that just went overboard and the party in Zion. Come on! Is this a love movie? I think not, it is about saving the world as we know it (or think we know it, right?).

There was one fight scene that really just looked like I was watching my college roomates playing sony playstation or something. Keanu totally looked fake. Lets work on that one too. Overall, I liked the first one best.

Would I recommend it? "yes". In the theatre? "yes". Will I watch it there again? "no". Will I buy the movie? "lets see how the third one is, maybe I'll get the trilogy".

Unfaithful

I did it. I admit it.

I had to. I was saving money. But I decided to go back to John Paul when my 'B' hairdresser goofed and couldn't get my sides even. And anyway, I need someone who can recomend good product because I mean without good product my hair is just unruly.

I wasn't sure how much I wanted off. It was starting to get warm out and I was thinking I would chop off some to take if off my shoulders. I wanted something fresh and exciting. Longer hair stays the same for so long. It is just not exciting. I guess that is my trademark, I grow and grow and then CHOP CHOP CHOP!

He fluffed my hair (Sorry you miss out on this, Allie, it is the best) and we worked on a vision. Really he is the one with all the vision, I just have to set the limits "no shorter than..." "I don't want it to puff out" "LOW MAINTENANCE!" I watched him pull the hair back and cut off, wow I don't even know the words for how much he took off. If it wasn't six inches it was a foot. There was no turning back and I think my heart might have skipped a beat.

Of course it looks awesome. John Paul is amazing like that and surprisingly it is something I had sort of invisioned when we were in the contemplation stage. It is short, though. I reached back for my elastic and caught a whole lot of air. I guess I can unaccessorize that little supply. No more hair elastics everywhere... the car, my purse, my wrist...

In Training

Kev and I are heading out to California next saturday and Craig and Angela told (warned?) us that we would be doing a lot of outdoor activities. It was a super cold winter and I basically sat inside and ate so I had a lot of winter sluggishness to burn. And boy did I ever...

Christa and I di the 5 km race for the cure yesterday and that was no walk in the park. It is amazing how when you can see the finish line you suddenly don't feel so bad. Hey, why not go around again? Uh, just kidding. We sprinted at the end but overall it was a run-walk-run-jog... adventure. We beat the oldest lady runner though, ok so she did have a seeing eye dog. I know, the dog was probably slowing her down. As I heard an eight year old say as he passed us to his mom - "It doesn't matter how fast you go as long as you finish, right?" Right on kid!

For mothers day my parents and I went on 25 mile bike ride (I ended up going a few extra for not paying attention and missing the turn). Can we mark the turns with big flashing arrows next time. I mean who can look down at the ground the entire time and I definatly am no good at looking at that little plan sheet.

Now I just hope I recover in time to do adventurous things in Cali. Maybe I'll have to hit the sack at 9:00pm. Aww, who are we kidding I'll be in bed by 8:00. Oh no, I can't go to bed early it is the 90210 reunion tonight! Even Shannon Doherty will be on. That is worth staying up for!

Jilted!

Hindsight is 20:20

Has anyone gotten their full security deposit back? My landlord told me that she'll be keeping about $125 from ours because the place wasn't clean enough. What does that mean? I hate that too, because she walked through a month before and it was fine then. I am so upset that I wasn't there when she did the final walk through. I could have addressed any of her superlufus requests.

Two separate friends almost (or did) go to small claims court to get their money, another lost their deposit because they didn't give any notice. I didn't even get all my money back from Walden. Doesn't 2.5 years of paying on time and being a good overall tenant account for anything?

I guess that is another thing I won't miss about the apartment - dealing with a landlord.

Another Icon Falls

oldman.gif

A bit or all of the Old Man in the Mountain profile slid off this morning. Read more here. I used to love driving past it and I wonder if I every got a really good picture. (Odd thought I know, but now I won't ever get another chance.) They have the old man profile all over the place, even on the route signs.

It is amazing how you can take something for granted and as soon as it is gone it is so startling to think of it as gone. I mean it was just stone, but it was so cool.

And now, a moment of silence...
